DANBURY — The story of firefighters and civilians working together to save puppies from a fire on a cold winter’s night earlier this year will be spotlighted in a new TV series Saturday.
On the night of Jan. 3, civilians and firefighters broke down the doors of Puppy Love to save 86 dogs from a fire that threatened to destroy the pet store on Lake Avenue Extension.
Fire Chief TJ Wiedl said the Puppy Love fire was “one of the most rewarding calls” the department has responded to in years.
“It was a fire where the public did a lot of the work, which is fantastic,” the chief said in March.
The fire and rescue will be featured in an episode of Hearts of Heroes at 11 a.m. on local ABC stations WABC Channel 7 and WTNH Channel 8. The episode was filmed March 10-11.
